Bio:
My career as a photographer began out of the sheer joy of capturing moments in time at events such as weddings, parties, and the building of the High Five interchange. My intention is to stop my subject matter in time making the image permanent: allowing the viewer to be drawn into the way I see the world.
From the moment the High Five project was announced, I knew it would be a monumental event. I also knew I wanted to be a part of it. This was the ultimate challenge---creating beauty from a subject matter that is not necessarily viewed by most of the world as such.
It’s somewhat ironic that I was fascinated with a massive construction project since my career has been all about fashion. Yet, documenting the High Five project turned into a love affair. More than 6,000 photographs are in my collection. People comment that I have succeeded in making concrete beautiful.
All this has been a happy accident because I wanted to take photographs that no one else would have and it turned into an obsession—creating beauty in the common everyday. Taking photographs in the most remote places to capture what no one else sees.
My background includes a degree in Fashion Merchandising from Colorado State University. I began my career at Neiman Marcus where I gained an appreciation for photography in the mail order advertising department. Throughout my career at Neiman Marcus, I have developed a strong sense of style, an eye for detail, and an appreciation for beauty.
